Steps in Classroom Action Research (CAR)
Kemmis and McTaggart (1988) in Burns (2010:5) state that action research involves four phases in a cycle research. The phases are planning, action, observation, and reflection.
1. Planning
In this phase, researcher should identify a problem and develop a plan to improve a specific area of research.
2. Action
After making a plan, the plan created is realized in this phase.
3. Observation
The researcher observes the effect of the action he did. This phase gather as many as data can be got from the action.
4. Reflection
In this phase, the researcher reflect on what he got in action and observation phase. This phase is important to judge whether the action that has been performed is able to solve problem or is not able overcome the problem. If the problem has not solved yet, the researcher should revise his plan and start a new cycle until his problem is clear.
